I’ll admit, I was skeptical of tapping at first. The idea of tapping on my face and body while saying affirmations felt strange. But when nothing else seemed to calm my racing thoughts, I gave it a try. To my surprise, it worked quickly.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is like acupuncture without needles. By gently tapping on meridian points while naming what you’re feeling, you send calming signals to the brain. Research shows tapping can reduce cortisol levels and help regulate the nervous system. For me, it became a simple way to reset during panic or overwhelm.

Tapping Cheat Sheet

Tips:

  • Tap lightly with fingertips.
  • Speak honestly, no “perfect” wording needed.
  • Breathe slowly as you go.

The Methods that Work

  1. Basic Sequence
Tap points: Side of hand → Eyebrow → Side of eye → Under eye → Under nose → Chin → Collarbone → Under arm → Top of head.
  2. Stress Release Phrase
Say: “Even though I feel [stressed, anxious, scared], I accept myself right now.”
  3. Quick Reset
Tap your collarbone while breathing deeply for one minute.

Tapping may look odd, but the calm it brings feels real.
